Collectively putting Curaçao on the online map
As per October 10, 2010, Curaçao has become a new autonomous country within the Dutch Kingdom.
With this constitutional change, Curaçao is now listed as a country in the official international ISO country list. Additionally Curaçao has received its own country code .CW.
Today, Curaçao’s access to online content and services still has its limitations, but we have come a long way. Take for instance the following success stories:
- The University of Curaçao, in collaboration with ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain) partners from the .CW Registry Curaçao succeeded in having .CW recognized and included in the Top-level domains of Google (Apps).
- The .CW Registry Curaçao succeeded in having Curaçao included in the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) country list.
- Thanks to efforts from BTP (Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post), Curaçao’s data is now annually published in the international ITU Yearbook of Statistics for Telecommunication and ICT Indicators.
The successes above were achieved by means of sending information via email (such as the ISO documents shown at http://bit.ly/1C0SokK and http://bit.ly/1lI0yEY) and by means of international phone conversations. Because of these international successes many online access issues were solved.
